  • Need Some Advice with Darts...

hey guys well i am almost done here,

all i need to do is build something for my darts to sit on.

no i have what you would call vertical supports or rafters running along the top of the underside of my stand. (to help keep the main tank from bowing on the bottom.) they are 2x6s....

anyway since i have the intakes for my closed loops on the bottom of the tank i was thinking of building something for the pumps to sit on. probably out of 2x6...

    but my questions come now.

    1. should i use foam under them? if so, what kind? i have this pick 1/2" stuff that i put under my main tank. or i have to struff that James sent me in the crate that my main tank was on, this stuff is about 1.5" thick and is white and can compress very easliy? i was thinking the pink stuff?

    2. should i screw the pumps through the foam (if i use any) to the wood?

let me know guys and i can finish this up.

    thanks!

    Nick

I would be careful putting foam under the pumps especially if they get really hot. It may melt through. For my return pump, i bought a thin sheet of wood from Home Depot to bring it up a little like what your trying to do.

Great, maybe i will just skip the foam all together. and use some 1/4 wood, better yet i dont even need to use that i dont think, i can just screw it onto the 2x6s....

i wonder how hot they get? i know they sell a pad for sequence pumps at marinedepot for vibration.

      thanks Edward!

The darts don't vibrate all that much so just screwing them into some wood planks seems to work fine. I use whatever is laying around.

Nick, I painted mine to match the rest of the platform it sat on. You cant even tell its on a pedestal unless you look close.
