  • Stand for New 275 gallon tank!

    Hey guys well after working on this for awhile i am finally done, just have to inclose the top of the columns and stain and finish it...

    should be done by the end of the week.....

    its made out of 2x4s and 2x6s then has birch and grade A pine (since the stain up the same)....

    anyway finished sanding it tonight so stain will go on tomorrow...

    also have the canopy finished but did get a pic of that.

    here you go (please excuse the mess on the stand, to lazy to clean it off, haha)....

    i will snap more pics when things move along, i got the sump too! its a peice of art work! very nice!

      The weakest point in this hobby are the stands, never goes with the beauty of the tanks but this one man . . . . this is the best that I saw!!! just one word, CONGRATULATIONS, really, you can be VERY proud.

          Sean- yeah i play alittle basketball, haha i can even dunk it!

          Madison- the columns are made out of birch, i did it all.... then i pictured framed it, then added ther trim..... there are 5 different moldings that make up the column, 3 on the bottom, the "pictured framed part" then the crown molding....

                Thanks guys it turned out pretty well...

                and the canopy matches it pretty well....

                i am going go hang my MH pendants from the ceiling so i built the fram out of 2x2s and am going to hang my VHOs from the canopy...

                      No Heinz, i forgot to take pictures of the 2x4 and 2x6 framing i should have though.

                      Sean- i should have it stained and finished this week. I was going to get some custom doors made, BUT they wanted 450 bucks for them! so i said no thanks and i will just make my own....

                      they will not be as "fancy" per say, but should look nice. i dont want them to take away from the stand, so nothing to fancy....

                            Haha Johan where do you live? i could walk you through it, its not that hard....

                            Madison still not sure going to get the stain today.... i really like Oak, but who knows yet maybe a nice red oak????

                            still debating about it, but i will make up my mind later today.
