ok, my 1260 comes with two hose adapters. one is smaller (5/8") and is supposed to be for the output. the other one is larger (about 3/4" or so) and is supposed to be for the input. my question: can i use the larger adapter on the outlet so that i can get more GPH? (since it will be submersed i wont need it for the inlet)

    TIA

I'm not sure it will give you more gph. I think it's more dependent on the rpm's of the impellar. Not sure, but it might be creating more head pressure now that you've just added more water to be moved through that size diameter.

          chuck, madison,

what is the bushing (little black cap on the end of the shaft) for? to hold the shaft in place?

Uhm, maybe I'm not sure what you are talking about. The bushing where?

As for the in/outputs, I guess maybe the 1260 they are the same. I am using a 1262 on my office tank and they are clearly different diameters.

You will get more flow, less restriction, but again, I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes.

As I recall, If you take the grill and sponge off the end, you have a standard impellar setup inside a twist off flange with a gasket.

The in/outlet adapters have rubber gaskets as well I believe to avoid leaks.

I think it's to secure the shaft and keep it from making noise.

if you talk about the rubber nop, it's to stabilize the shaft,

yes, thats what im talking about.

i lost it while i was cleaning the pump outside :icon_roll

i was able to make another one out of some rubber tubing, and it holds it in place really well. do you think its ok?

i dont know, Eheim parts are easy to get in germany, not sure if that is the same for you, but if you can get the originale i would use that one,

call marinedepot. I'd bet they have it.

try marine depot or custom aquatic. it should be cheaper than going through eheim.
