  • Glass mixed Acrylic tanks...

    Im getting a local quote on a tank builder who makes tanks out of both acrylic and glass. The side panels will be starphire glass and the bottom and top will be made out of thick acrylic. Have you guys heard of this? Any positive or negative comments? I dont know of anyone who has this style of aquarium and the price is about the same as an all glass starphire.

    i heard that silicone doesnt stick as well to acrylic...my main concern would be how he would glue everything together...

        Thats why im hesitant on purchasing from them. Not sure if it will last long. I need to find some facts and experiences.

          HM....I NEVER HEARD OF IT...but it sounds very unstable ,based on material...
          ed..to glue glass they use speacial selicon,but acrylic works different...
          i personally wouldnt go for it...it s alot to loose ,if sometyhing happends..
          call james at envision...ask him ..

            What would be the benefit according to the builder?

            Seems like a risk with no upside...

              I'll ask tomorrow. I am going to their place to see one of the tanks and see whats the benefit.
