i am setting up a new 180 reef tank was wondering if it was pssible to have the chiller in the stand if the back of the stand is hollow with a couple of fans or if chiller has to be seperate thanks gregg

What size chiller? is it 1/2 hp, 1/3 hp, 1/4 hp, so on....
need to know that first.

The short answer is no,
i have a 1/2 hp also and it is loud, i mean it's not terrible loud, but i would NOT want it in a living room type of atmosphere.
ALSO this thing throws out a huge amount of heat. No matter what you do it will heat up the room.
It would NOT be effective for you to put it under the 180. The chiller woudl run all the time. I mean the heat it throws out would heat up the tank.
I remoted located mine about 50 feet away in a back room.
i suggest you remote locate yours also.
