I buy all my replacement carts, membranes and DI resin from these guys.

    Never had an issue.
    I run a 20 micron sediment
    10 micron sediment
    5 micron carbon
    .5 micron carbon
    Membrane
    dual DI.

I added an extra filter and housing to the input side as well as the output.

thanks. how many stage do u have? i keep reading different micron size recommendations. i wish i could remember or wrote down what size i have. all i know is that it's a 4 stage. sediment, carbon, something else and membrane.

Depends on how you count the stages. The 2 filters prior to the membrane need to be carbon, as chlorine (city water) is death to the membrane. There are Carbon matrix and just plain carbon filters. I have 4 filters before the membrane (2 sediment and 2 carbon matrix), and 2 DI units after. The main thing is to filter the water to the smallest possible micron prior to the membrane for longevity of the membrane. I added the 20 micron sediment to make the 10 mic sediment last longer. The 20's are cheap like 2 bucks each at HD. I just keep this one changed out and the 10 every couple months. I found that I get twice the life out of the 5 and .5 micron by doing this. The smaller the micron, the more expensive. You can get away with just the 5 and .5 before the membrane but depending on your source water, and how much water you make, you may have to replace them every month or so. I make over 150 gallons a month for wc's and evap.

my water source has high tds, something like 150 if i remember correctly. i have 3 filters before my membrane. 1 sediment, 1 carbon and 1 other, i cannot remember and i'm at work so i can't look now. then the membrane. i'm not looking to change filters every other month so i guess i'll go slightly higher, like 5 or 10.

You call that high TDS? mine are >650 at the source, around 13 post RO. I go through a DI cartridge every 4 weeks.

Unfortunately Marshal, my TDS's mirrors yours. I have just added a water softener unit which does extend the obligatory cartidge color change, though Bob

Hi Dennis, I use SpectraPure cartidges exclusively in the SpectraPure 2000 Plus 5-stage RODI unit. For those like me who have high Si's source water, I like their new Si-removing DI cartidge. Bob
