I agree with Bob, perfect explanationJust like to add running the carbon on the top of the ZeoFilter for 24 – 48 hours can not be done with every carbon brand while some of them absorb elements very aggressive.
Carbon is replaced every 30 days completely. With the ZeoVit system it is recommended to use 1 liter carbon per 1000 liters net tank volume.

Hi Baros, & welcome to ZEOvit.comYour technique is the recommended manner in which to utilize carbon in the ZEOvit method, passively, in a low-flow area of the sump, kneaded 3-4x's/wk to keep the surfaces open. Constant fluidized flow is too absorbent in a low-nutrient system, removing too much of the essential elements for our corals. With passive flow of carbon, the balance of toxins to essential elements is much easier to maintain. In Phase 3-4, one can run the carbon bag in the top of the zeo-reactor for 24-48 hrs. once a wk. which has a enhancing effect on water clarity if you wish, but this is not necessary & prolonged use of carbon in this fashion can have coral consequences. What would you say is the ideal way to get the best out of using the carb? I currently use it in a mesh bag hanging in the sump with a gentle current running throught it, Would it be worth fluidising it?

This is normal. I place the carbon before usage one hour in hot (90 degree C) RO water which slowly cools down to get the air out of the pores.
