The base unit and then the appropriate "modules", not the alphas. It's a lot like the Aquatronic in that respect. The alphas are standalone monitor controllers ala pinpoints.

The light thing I believe requires a compatible ballast. There are osram made controllable T5 and T8 ballasts (much cheaper if you find from an industrial site, but I dunno the connections). I dunno T12VHO though--near as I can tell, T12VHO was never very popular "across the pond"

          IKS-usa.com--which you already knew about.

The basic setup for 1175 comes with the computer, ph mod and probe, redox mod and probe, temp probe and a four plug box. So you can control your heater, chiller, CA reactor and ozone with this setup (4 plugs). You need another box if you want to do your lights (you are out of plugs). The lighting simmod for dimming goes into one of the four spots for plug boxes. The simmod is designed to work with commercially available dimming electronic ballasts (ie certain osram T5HO ballasts).

BTW, just order through Doug of Deltecusa and discuss it with him. He owns one and knows the basics of the thing. He'll be the first to tell you he's no IKS "guru", but he has one and uses it and knows the basics and can put you in contact with David Saxby in England who is an IKS "guru". It's really pretty darn easy to setup. Works well so far.

                http://www.osram.com/products/electr.../t5dim/fc.html

You would use that ballast (actually that's the NO version there is a HO version as well) and some say Icecap SLRs and endcaps for T5s. There's a T8 version I believe as well:
                http://www.goodmart.com/products/36104.htm

Here's an Advanced version, kinda pricey. The T8 is much cheaper:

I think you will find alot of useful information at http://www.matuta.com/
There are many IKS gurus at that site. Hopefully they have the English version up and running.
Otherwise the people at http://www.iks-aqua.com/ are always very helpful.

Of note I got a quote from Doug (Deltec) on a 2x80w dimmable luxus fixture from IKS--over 800 bux. You can DEFINITELY do it for substantially cheaper on your own. Get the ballasts from an industrial supply house. Some IC endcaps and reflectors or the SLS stuff and voila! The simmod that you need to plug in...it uses standard 0-10v controlling signals so I don't think you need anything special to plug it into a dimmable osram, lutron, advanced or universal electronic ballast.

You need the simmod (140 or so from IKS/Deltec)
One of the ballasts as listed above
and like one of these retro kits without the ballast:
