  • Aquatronica Aquarium Controllers VS IKS

    Hi there Guys

I am looking into controllers for my new set-up and I was wondering if any of you can give me some feed back between these 2 products.

Which one do you think is better, more user friendly, ect.... basically which one would you opt for?

I am leaning towards the IKS , but really not sure.....

    Thanks

I believe that Moonpod has/uses both. He would be the one to ask.

    Colin
    120 BB w/20g BB side tank, 29g sump, (2) 250w RO III, 14k AC, Bluewave VII ballast, Deltec 851, Panworld 150 return, (2) 6000 Streams w/controller, AC II Controller w/(2) DC4, GEO 618 CR.

If at first it doesn't fit get a bigger hammer - Beat to fit paint to match

IKS--more refined, more solid feel (larger unit), pricier

Aquatronica--developing product really. Much more expandability. Less pricey, but still pricey
      10x3x2 FOWLR (for now)
      BK400ext
RD12 return, 2 RD12 closed loop, wavebox with extension
      MRC kalkmixer
      IKS

Hi there Moonpod, thx for the feedback, so which one would you recommend? The IKS ?

However the expandability does sound very attractive on the Aquatronica......

        Thx

Ya know, it's sort of a tossup. I like the "maturity" of the IKS product, but the Aquatronica is much, much more expandable.

I'm quite content with the Aquatronica. The ethernet and email notification functionality is not yet available. Much needed..

                The same caveats apply:
                IKS--rock, rock stable. Mature. Pricey

Aquatronica--endlessly expandable. Constantly updating firmware. New modules always around the corner.

Both of these currently do not stand alone allow for remote monitoring--the "best" way IMO for both is to hook 'em up to a computer 24/7 that allows you to access the controllers. The IKS also has a thing for cellphone sms if something is going wrong.

I actually saw an aquatronica in person the other day .I say looks alot better in picture,as far as performance I never used one but there are people out there that had problems with them ,Iks seems to be more solid
