  • Has anyone used this???

    Saw this over at Marine Depot and thought it was pretty cool and could really be of some use - if it actually works. And the price isn't bad at all - $60

    The Dual TDS meter offers an easy and convenient way of monitoring the performance of your RO or RO/DI unit. It allows you to quickly check the quality of the inlet and outlet water and helps you to determine when the cartridges need to be replaced. It is a great addition to any RO or RO/DI unit.

    Features:

    * Highly efficient and accurate due to its advanced microprocessor technology.
    * Displays TDS levels of the Feed Water and Product Water with in & out electrode probes.
    * Auto-Off function conserves battery power. The unit shuts off automatically after 10 minutes of non-use.
    * Dual Range - Measures from 0 ~ 999ppm, with a resolution of 1ppm.
    * Factory Calibrated -Recalibration is not necessary.
    * Comes equipped with John Guest Quick-Connect T-fittings as shown.
    * Installs quickly and easily.

    Im using that rite now to monitor exactly when its time for me to change the Filters/Resin. In my case, incoming is about 70 ppm and outgoing is 0 ppm. Very cool since you will know at the glance whats the quality of your top-off water and also how bad is the source water (not really important to know but u can monitor the trend in your source water if needed)...

      how hard was it to set up? Doesn't look that difficult, but you never know. Also do you have any idea how accurate it is - maybe double checked the reading against a calibrated TDS meter? I am a bit concerned that it never needs to be calibrated.

        Its not hard at all. Just snip the incoming and outgoing tubes and place the probes in between. tada!!

        No idea about accuracy since i have never checked it before. What I have is another TDS meter just to double check the reading if needed. So far, the 2 difference meters read the same (0 TDS). Just in case ppl ask, the 2 meters are different brands too.

          How long have you had the unit running?

                              I found those for $30 in my LFS. I decided to get one to try it out. I think I got the bad one because my reading from the inlet reads 0.8 and slowly goes down to 0.00. Is there something wrong with it?
