  • DI filter

Anyone here knowledgable about DI? I'm not but need to make a purchasing decision

I have a 900 GPD industrial RO machine and want to add a DI stage.

The supplier recommended "8 inch mixed bed filter with 25 lts of mixed ion-exchange media with cat-ion and an-ion resin. The water quality at the mixed bed outlet lower than 0.3 micro siemens/cm. Media will require regeneration for every 12,500 liters."

    Is that what I want?

HiTimon, wow, that's huge, indeed The mixed-bed DI should remove contaminants can pass thru the RO process. I would recommend a color change type &/or a purity meter at this point which will indicate when the DI is exhausted. Bob

      Hi Bob, thanks
Yes it's big, but I also have a big tank and I am not very patient so an RO machine that runs as fast as the regular water tap is a good tool to have .

The silicate content of my source water is very high, after RO there still is 1 p.p.m. so now I have a diatom bloom each time I do a water change. Will adding the DI filter reduce the silicates to zero?

Timon, my source water is also high in Si'sI just purchased a 5-stage SpectraPure with the 4th stage their special Si-free DI filter. After about a 100g of product water, it is already 50% color-changed Looks like I'll need to order a carton of theseBob
