  • Aqua-Safe Pure 6 stage RO/DI Unit & Milwaukee TDS Meter - Quick Review

So I got this unit off of ebay after reading quite a bit about them on RC.

At the time I paid 80.00 for it shipped. Now they come with Clear DI canisters with coloring changing beads and they run about 89.00.

Anyways, To make it simple? I love this unit, I've definitely used quite a bit of water and never had any problems. I went ahead and got the TDS just to make sure I knew what was going on, can't say I'm disappointed. My school uses well water with a TDS of 122, after my unit has taken over, 1 TDS. I've do several test and I'm confident that this reading is infact true. I've read that with an aquarium unit it is nearly impossible to achieve 0 TDS, and usually the water is higher then 5 TDS.

Anyways, you can check them out here : http://stores.ebay.com/The-Aqua-Safe-Pure-Water-Shop

Great customer service to top it off!

Hey Sean i have the same unit. Very pleased with it so far. Been using it 6 months and no complaints. Other than what you said, i wish they had that clear housing so i could tell when i need to replace the filters.

Also my house water is about 345 (I have the TDS metere also) and it takes it down to 0, but now its up to about 4-5 so i need to get more filters on order!

very great unit and cheap! i also got the booster pump.

Yeah I've been meaning to get the booster pump also.

You can buy the clear housing for 20.00 but you need to get their e-catalog first.

What temperature water do you usually run through your system?

yeah the booster pump REALLY helps IMO/IME. i might have to look into that clear housing.

the temp i run is anywhere from 65-75 depending on the day and what other stuff is being used in the house, ex- washer, dishwasher, or if someone is taking a shower.

        what temp do you run?

          I never cross over 70.

Something I was reading said too hot destroys the unit, something else I read say the warmer water the better performance? Not sure which to really trust.

yeah i have read the same thing, i would really love if someone made there mind up and decided which is better, i try to stay around 68-72 ideally, but sometimes its warmer or colder.

I don't use ZEO and I have unmeasureable PO4 and NO3 in my tank with just plain skimming.
