It's a proven good salt. Do I personally use it? No, but I wouldn't be afraid of it. High quality, no doubt. There is a "reef" version of it as well.

As Keigo said, the TM's Pro-reef is higher in Ca/Mg which is made more for SPS corals. Watch your KH, with TM's salt, though this will probably not be a problem for you. One other note of caution with Pro-reef, some reefers have had problems in his reef if the salt contains "little black balls". I do not know what it is but can be stressful to the corals. Bob

Hmm not the news I was wantring to hear.. I have a 200 gallon bucket of TM pro reef coming tomorrow.. It is high in KH like IO? If so that reallly bums me out BAD..... I could never get my KH down using IO, I switched to oceanic after 13 yrs of IO use for this reason for the zeo method... I didn't go back with Oceanic because of all the recent problems I have been hearing about and all the good news on TM pro reef.. Has anyone here tried Crystal Seas Bioassay Formula? I read about it in this artical but I didn't see a KH value or I might have bought it and tried it aswell... Seems to be pretty promising for sure... Here is the artical about it http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-0...ture/index.htm.

          Peace, jeff

Jeff, go ahead & use it if no little back balls are seen. It does have a higher KH value, so maybe use both. Presently, I'm 70-30, Oceanic to Pro-reef & I'm leaning more & more toward only using Oceanic. The "dust" concern has completely disappeared using the above. Bob

Bob, how old is the oceanic bucket you are using? Seems like they had a bad batch but I wondered if you had a newer batch? If so I might call PA today and change back to oceanic.. let me know please...

Yea I think I am going to call PA and go back to Oceanic... I heard SO MANY good things about TM pro though I thought I would give it a try. I do get a little upset at the Mg and Ca levels with Oceanic... 1450-1500 mg and 480-490 Ca...

Jeff, 70-30, will keep parameters from going too high. Bob

i have the same problem jeff BUT i much rather have higher levels then lower levels it also keeps me from having to use a cal reactor on my tank when i had it hooked up to my 55g it messed everything up on me

Bob, just left a messege with PA.. I am going to see if they will send oceanic over TM pro reef.. I do not have enough of the oceanic left to even do 70-30.. I think i will go all oceanic again... I will the mg levels were lower and the ca thats about it... Did u read that artical about the Crystal Seas Bioassay Formula at all?

Nick, I run a CA rx and also use Mg granulate.. My mg never goes under 1450 and my Ca also runs about 470.. I would love to get both these params inline if I could... I will not go without my Ca rx though as my Alk will drop WAY to low FAST...

Jeff, if I recall that's the salt 2yrs. ago caused many reefer's SPS to TN Stay with Oceanic. I only use TM's Pro-reef to offset the extreme high's from time to time. Bob
