Ah, you used the Icecap, shielded numbers. Well...what can you say. That's life with electronic ballasts. Funny things happen sometimes. You're right. On the IC the Phoenix does outperform the MC.

Your eyes preferentially pick up the yellows and reds in the MC's spectrum and those "register" as bright vs the predominantly blue colors only in the Phoenix spectrum
13kMC 250w M80 ballast unshielded PPFD 112, CCT 10418
Phoenix 250w M80 ballast unshielded PPFD 109, CCT off the chart
The MC IME was white with a yellow overtone.
Phoenix is white/blue
The MC has more PAR/PPFD than the Phoenix

Sanjay's Lighting Analysis
Anyone have an opinion on the accuracy of his tests?
Here's why. I recently switched from the Giesemann 250W Megachrome 13k to the new Phoenix 14k. I did this based on Sanjay's tests showing the PPFD for the Phoenix was 14% higher than the Megachrome. Phoenix PPFD = 73, Megachrome PPFD = 63. But man, this new Phoenix bulb is very blue compared to the Megachrome. Can it be possible to have more blue but gain PPFD?
I like the look of the Phoenix but am concerned I sacrificed intensity. The Megachrome was a bright white with a touch of white.Tags: None
