  • DE Bulb replacement

I currently have 2x Aqua Medic 250w DE HQI's that have about 9mos of use. I want to replace the stock 20k bulbs perhaps with some 14k's. Is this a good idea or bad? Also want brands should I look for?

    Thanks

    Scott

Phoenix 14k+ if you can find 'em. I think www.reefgeek.com is out. I dunno who else has 'em.

I don't see the Phoenix at Champion, but they DO have a big selection. Likewise Premium Aquatics, Reefgeek, etc....

Still searching for some 14k DE bulbs. Has anyone tried the Giesemann Megacrhome bulbs?

Try the 14K EVC bulbs, EVC is taking a huge part of the market, people love the bulbs; they last long, keep their color till the very end, have some of the best par and to top it off, they are cheap!

The Giesemann 13k MC is the same thing as the BLV 10k

The Gman 20k is the same as the BLV 20k

The Giesemann 14.5k is interesting. But still very little "blue".

The Phoenix is back in stock at Reefgeek.

The EVC has a nice spectrum, 20% less output than the Phoenix.

                      Thanks guys.

Just ordered the Phoenix's from Reefgeek. Had to call but atleast I got them ordered.
I have been using the stock AquaMedic 20k bulbs that came with the lights. Should I raise the lights once I replace the bulbs to allow the corals to adapt to the new lights?

                      Thanks
