  • Difference between magnetic and tar in ballast

    Hi~

I have a question about MH ballast.

I use AC 250watt 14K with tar for HQI ballast. In our country, it is not easy

to get Magnetic ballast like PFO. and PFO ballast is so heavy, it is not easy

to buy it neither, cause the shipping cost will be similar to the coast of ballast itself!!

so I wanna know what is difference between magentic and tar in HQI ballast.

Is magnetic ballast better than Tar ? or same.

    thanks in advance~

Tar is something I've only heard in reference to fluorescent ballasts. MH I've only heard magnetic or electronic. I would think that there would be a domestic (Korean made) magnetic ballast/"HQI" ballast. check with people in lighting. Ask for something that is similar to the US ANSI M80 ballast (250w, 150w is ANSI M81). PFO is just a brand name. The ballast "type" is M80 or M81. There are many brands. I definitely agree, don't ship one, they are HEAVY. Alternatively see if you can get a Taiwanese "HQI".
