  • Coralvue "Reeflux" 10 & 12 K Bulb?

Anyone using them? I have been experimenting with them on HQI Ballasts. So far I like the 12K. The 10k looks like the Ushio and XM on the HQI Ballast (yellowish) I will be firing up the Electronic Ballasts that are recommended for them (Coralvue) so I can run the 10K. I have always been a 20K user but I have had this urge to run 10K on a non-"HQI" ballast. We'll see. Anyone opinons welcome =)

I had the 10k SE in 400 watt on an HQI and hated it. Lots of pink color. The corals however responded positively. Trying to get the frags I got from you to regain their color. The pieces you ship are phenomenal.

Hey Marshal, was that their old 10K or the new "Reeflux"? I have the 400w 12K on a PFO HQI and itlooks good. I still need to try the 10K on Electronic Ballast. Did the frags brown out on you?

It was the new "reeflux" version. I let it run for 2 weeks and it got a little better, but still pretty pink. Looks much more so in person. Kinda yellowish in the pic, not an accurate representation of the color.

And here is a link to the thread viewing the progession through the various bulbs

Eric, I am running a 12K right now on standard m59 ballast.. Its looks exactly like am xm 20k.. They are indistinguishable..

          Jeff..

PS, I tried the 10K also and had the same feeling Marshall did.. Very pink but corals responed to it very well.. I wish I could have gotten over the color because the corals did REALLY like it..

Marshal, that is no doubt pink! Didi it shift or just come in like that? I'll follow the thread.

Jeff, the 12K loks like an XM huh? I have it next an XM 20K both on HQI's and looks a lot brighter and whiter. I am a sucker for the blue look though =)

The bulb came like that, it did shift/burn in slightly more to the blue, but not enough to keep it IMO. I'm currently running all radiums right now and really like the look. I know on the HQI's they have a short life span, but they are brighter than the phoenix and hamilton 14ks.

Eric, maybe thats the difference on the M59 standand magnetic they are identical... 12k Reeflux=20k XM... If you can post some pics how it looks on HQI next to xm20K that would be great..

                Thanks, Jeff

I will be receiving the 12k Reeflux tommorrow and will replace one of the Radiums. It will be on an HQI ballast. So I will be able to post comparison pics after they burn in for a few hours. Hopefully by this weekend.

We are using the 10k Reeflux on our 220 gallon tank - 400 watt single ended with Icecap Electronic Ballasts. We like the color a lot at this time, it is a nice crisp white color. We are looking at switching our middle bulb to a higher kelvin bulb to bring out more of the corals blue coloration but otherwise no complaints so far. I will try to get a pic or two of the tank to show you guys in a few days. This is our first bulb/ballast combination we have used on this tank and just recently got some corals in it so we will see what our next combination will be, seems like that is part of the hobby, swapping out bulbs and trying new.

Tanglover that is what i do I have 2 400w SE 10k Reeflux on the outsides and a 20k xm on in the inside and love the colors BUT..... I measured the bulbs with my Lux Meter and the 10k are showing less then the 20k (I just got the meter and still learning how to use it) I am trying to find out how to convert the lux meters measurements to PAR. So if anyone knows how to do this in HUMAN language not science language lol please LMK
