  • crack ?

hey all i was looking at my blub at the garage and i realised its crack ? is this a problem ? i dont dare to turn it back on as soon as i saw the crack i turned it off ....

would anything happen to the corals or even the lighting if i did turn back on ?

There is a strong chance that when you restart the bulb, the bulb heating up, without the vacuum will get hotter -- And will heat up so quickly it will crack the lense more.

Then when that pops, the UV hitting your corals will create lots of bad issues.

XM's have gotten a bad name already. I dont know of anyone who would vouche for them anymore. BLV's are top of the line.

I thought this was another rock cooking debate, I'm spending too much time on RC lately

I remember reading somewhere that a cracked Metal Halide bulb is DANGEROUS. They were using MH bulbs in a school gym and people were suffering from something(I can't recall what it was). It turned out that is was one of the MH bulbs were cracked and had caused the condition.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but I'll try to find the article. I looked it up because I was concerned about my children and MH bulbs emitting too much UV light.
