  • The ineptitude of UPS

Well, UPS really bent me over today (actually the past few days).

I ordered four LA III reflectors last week from PGS.

First, PGS got the address wrong initially, but I figured that out and had UPS change the address last Friday which changed the delivery date to Monday. Well, Monday comes and goes and the UPS website tracking says they need the suite number. Well, they had the suite number and I actually told them to make sure it was on the package when they were contacted on Friday.

So, supposedly, with the suite number changes, delivery was rescheduled for today, Tuesday. Well after calling to try and figure out where my package was today (which they had no clue), the website shows it delivered and signed for by "Scott" at 10:30am. Well, there isn't anyone in this office by the name (first or last) of Scott. There are only five people in this office. I actually talked with the UPS driver this afternoon and he has not seen the box so some other driver probably just unloaded it someplace.

Now here is the kicker, PGS is now out of LA III reflectors and can not replace them for at least two weeks. Meanwhile, I have buyers for my existing light systems that may go away if told they are now going to have to wait at least three weeks (two weeks for PGS to get them and another week with UPS) and that is if everything goes like is being told to me.

I am really pissed at UPS right now. I have a mind to call some of my friends back in Atlanta that just happen to have some pretty high level connections within UPS, call up those UPS execs and let them know what I really think about their customer service at the momment.

Check into the LumanMax from SLS, they should be in stock and have very similar spread to the LAIII.

My real problem is that UPS might just find these and they say they have 8 days to rectify the situation.

Here in the latest. They actually have something on their system that says that the package was delivered to an address that has no relation to my address whatsoever. It was actually a Costco location. So, I did UPS' job and called Costco figuring if they have it, I will go get it. It's only seven miles away and I do not want UPS to touch this package again. God knows what it is going to look like when it gets here. So, the Costco employee in the front office takes down my info, and calls me back 10 minutes later to say that her receiving person remembers this box, but did not sign for it, which means it should be on that driver's truck still. Costco will forever have my business as they actually went out of their way to check this for me and did what they said they would. We will see. I just can't believe I have to do all of this and that I am able to find out more info that UPS could have.

Well Fedex dropped the ball on me today also.. I ordered some fish from Jeff exoticfish in CA. They sent the package to fedex for overnight as always but fedex held the package for 12 hrs before shipping it out today instead of last night.. Online it just arrived in TN but its supposed to be here by 4:30 today.. I called fedex and they say no delays it will be at your house by 4:30.. So I ask the lady who flying the plane to my house hehehe.. She says I told you there are no delays and I told her she needs to check online.. She says she doesn't have to and if there is anything else I can do for you what is it? I was like damn ok bye... Fedex has screwed far more packages up for me then UPS hands down... It would be a PITA though dealing with millions of packages a day... Well the comical thing about this whole story is that this is the third order for these fish cause fedex has screwed up my last 2 orders.. All for a couple damn wrasses and a couple stars... I have spent $120 in shipping to have them all arrive dead and it looks like it will happen again... I have hands down the most expensive 6 lines in the country ...

          Deja Vu Jeff,

I can't tell you how many Solarensis Wrasses died that FFE tried to send me. We finally figured out that Fed Ex had changed from sending stuff from LA to Las Vegas via Air to Truck. The desert can get pretty cold at night in the Winter.

Well, I have to say, the package did arrive today. They sent another driver out to get the box from CostCo and bring it to me.

Congrats Mike,, Just got off the phone with an American speaking fedex rep and she said yes the package was def help over night in LA without any reason.. She put a trace on the package and they are supposed to call me if it arrives at the local fedex and I can go pick it up if possible.. She said she was not sure if they allowed pickups at this Fedex facility though.. I asked her who was going to offer a refund for overnight shipping.. She was dead silent..

Yea, I told UPS that I expected the shipping charges to be reversed, but all they said was "ask the shipper". Fed Ex has had a bunch of problems out of LA lately. Chris at RM had a bunch of stuff held for no reason Monday night.

3 out of 6 things are still kicking.. Jeff at Exotic fish is a great guy to deal with and he said this claim will get settled rather quickly.. I hope hes right.. I am tired of paying shipping and having things held up and arriving DOA...
