Arcadia 3-series lights just died!

Hi Guys, my 2 yr old pendant (3x250w MH + 2x58w FL) just called it a day. The FLs still work but the MHs refuses to fire up. Did some intial troubleshooting like restting timer, letting the pendant cool-off, switching power sockets but to no avail.

Have just called it in to Arcadia UK and the Quality Engineer diagnosed the problem to be a thermistor which is part of the timer assembly. Apparently, the thermistor is there to prevent overheating.

The best thing about this whole incident is that Arcadia has despatched a new timer assembly to me via DHL at absolutely no cost to me even tho the warranty on the lights has expired 1 year ago!

Now, the timer will most probably reach me in 1-2 days time. Would my SPS be ok with 4x80w T5s (20kk and actinics) for the next 1-2 days?

Suggestions on what I should do while waiting for the timer assembly to reach me pls? Thanks!

Farish 48hrs. should not be problematic but another day or 2 could spell some trouble. Do you have an old MH unit or 2 to rig-up in the meantine if your parcel takes longer? Bob

I dunt have spare MHs but will buy/borrow a few if there is no sign of the parcel tomorrow. Package is in transit from Germany now according to the DHL tracker. Fingers crossed.

OK, Arcadia came thru in a time of need. Tank went without lights for 2 lighting periods and the lights are back in action now. SPS all looks fine so far with minimal impact. Thank god.

Maybe reduce the photo period for a couple days or raise the fixture? Two days is similar to transit time for transhipped corals and that's how I deal with those corals. Might be different since you still had FL lighting?
Just thinking out loud.

Good point. Have shortened the photoperiod today to 4 hours and will slowly increase it back to the 6 hours in a few days just to be safe.
