I would be curious too. I have the same size tank with 2- 14k 250w de. And I have been contemplating adding either a 400w or 250 20k bulb in the center.

Hi Zeddy, I would use 3-250's over your tank, using 10K's, Bob

Hi Josh, it that in addition to the MH's?, Are you using just T5's over your reef & if so, what's your impression? Thnx, Bob

Bob, I wish! It's all the T5 tanks i see/read about! The frag tanks Im setting up next year will be T5 only. (Probably the 4x 54w AC units) .

              Just take Danano's TOTM
Similar dimensions and he can keep SPS near the bottom! Why do we need the extra heat/cost of MH?

T5 and low wattage MH sps is doable. I think you have to be a bit more careful with your parameters. I kept croceas quite happily under T5 in a 180, but decided I wanted glitterlines so....it's funny b/c before I had MH I didn't really appreciate glitterlines, now I love 'em.

IMO, two MH 250 Watt are enough to cover a 2'x2' area, as long as the reflectors are good. Good reflectors make a world of a difference... Other than that, use actinic T5's if you don't like the look of MH only.
