I have heard "nipple up", I think it is actually a vent of some kind that if I remember right it helps the bulb operate at the appropriate temp. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. You could contact David at Coralvue, very nice and helpful guy.
    Take Care,
    Chad

I think it depends on the bulb brand, on the Aquamedic and Giesemann they say up and on my new BLV they say down, i hope ive read well on this last one .

If it is De, them the BLV/Ushio/Aquamedic goes Nipple up on the 150w.

Thats right. I was useing at first 150w DE (aquamedic & giesemann) nipple up, but with my 250w DE BLV it says nipple down !!!

I just seen a 150w BLV bulb and the nipple are up.

So it seems that 150w bulb nipples up ... 250w bulb nipples down .

The 250's I have used could only be installed one way, because of the ceramic end. The 150's have a round end and can be arrange in several ways.

Not sure if the blv 250 has the same ceramic end or not, but I assume that it does.

Yep your right, it does have a ceramic fitting, so i guess there can never be a positioning problem with 250w bulbs.
