if you are ordering from the US then check out www.reefgeek.com In my experience, the BLV is more white than the Ushio and it will work on the ballast you have.

you're better off converting to a D/E fitting. that doesn't cost much at all. plus the light from a D/E is so much brighter.

I thought that the BLV was Ushio, at least in the DE Version.

Brian, Ushio is the parent company of BLV but AFAIK they have separate R&D units and produce different bulbs.

                Did you check www.marinedepot.com, www.finsreef.com www.premiumaquatics.com ? also check www.customaquatic.com

Also, just a heads up, but BLV is coming out with a 15K bulb that is supposed to be pretty high powered. not sure when it will be available though.

Yes, but they only come in the HQI Double Ended version. What is needed is a source for a 15k E40 bulb in the 250 and 400w range that is cheaper than the Aquaconnects. I feel that it will be hard to be the pheonix in the DE variety.

Apparently, The lumens for the 14kk version is slightly higher than the 10kk version for the 250W DE. Both have Ra index of 90. So it this the best of both worlds? the color of a 14kk bulb but the PAR of a 10kk?

This is a great link to keep bookmarked. Articles 8-18 have lots of bulbs on most ballasts widely used today.

I'm having a heck of a time finding Aquaconnect mogul socket bulbs. I'd really like some 250W and 400W. Uggh!
