I bought a ballast from Cool Touch Lighting about 8 months ago before I really understood ballasts. I have been doing research on bulbs lately and now know how important and different ballasts are. I bought the 250 watt Metal Halide and VHO combination from them. I have tried to call them lately and ask what ballast I have but I keep getting them when they are closed. Dose anyone know what the standard ballast they give you is when you order a complete lighting canopy setup?

I have no reason to believe they use anything other than an M58 ballast. I have a dual 175 from them. My bulb of chice though is 10K Ushio. The M58 I have DIY style will not fire the Radium consistently BTW.

If the ballast is an M58 it will work. The M58 ballast is a standard, not made for the hobby ballast so quaility of the ballast should not be a concern. The box that Cooltouch uses to put the ballasts and plugs in is great if you like ballast boxes. The XM is made for probe start ballasts.

Brad... I can't say for sure without knowing for sure what's in the box.
Do you already have it? If so you can open it up and read the tag.
