  • About Iwasaki 65K bulb and lighting

    Hi~ all~

I know 6500K Iwasaki bulb looks very yellow (or green) to human eyes.
but How about the coloration of SPS's view?

I read a several threads in Singapore forum. and I think they luv Iwasaki or
    BLV10K + 20K combination better than 14K blub..

and which is the better choice between
    1. lumenarc+150w Iwasaki 65K SE bulb
    2. Icecap spot pendant 150W 65K iwasaki bulb

I got a buddy who swears by the iwasaki/radium combo.

It used to be that the Iwasaki 6500s were very yellow. But the bulb design change a couple of years back helped. Also buy the right ballast for them(like the PFO eye ballast). I ran a pair of 400s + 2 VHO O3s over the 175 we had and everything grew well and had nice color. I would have gone that route on the new tank, but went with 250 DEs to save a bit of money on electricity.

The Iwasakis are definitely a bit yellow, but if you have very clear water and enough actinic supplemental it does not look too bad in my opinion. Some people actually like the "warm" look.
